Privacy Policy

Receitas do Chef takes your privacy seriously. This policy explains who we are, how we collect, share and use your personal information, and your rights over the information we hold. It is a translation of the Portuguese privacy policy, which is the reference version.

What personal data do we collect?

Comments

When you leave a comment or a rating on a recipe, we collect:

the name you give
the text of the comment and, if you give one, the rating from 1 to 5 stars
your IP address, used only to limit abuse and prevent spam

Comments are published only after approval. To tell people from bots we use Cloudflare Turnstile, which looks at technical signals in the request without using advertising cookies.

Email

If you write to geral@receitasdochef.pt, we use your email address and message only to reply to you.

Saved recipes and shopping list

On the Portuguese site, the recipes you save and your shopping list are stored only in your own browser’s storage. We never receive them or keep them on our servers, and you can delete them at any time by clearing the site’s data in your browser.

Ads and statistics

This site shows Google AdSense ads and measures visits with Google Analytics 4. These services use personalized advertising and statistics cookies only after you give your consent in Google’s privacy message, shown on your first visit. You can change your choice at any time with the “Manage cookies” link in the footer. More details are in our Cookie Policy (in Portuguese).

What do we use this data for?

To publish and moderate comments, reply to messages, prevent spam and abuse, show ads, and understand which content is most useful so we can improve the site. We don’t send newsletters or marketing messages.

Will my information be shared?

Your personal information may be used by Receitas do Chef and by third parties that provide services to Receitas do Chef: hosting of the site and the comments database (Hostinger), email, spam protection (Cloudflare), advertising (Google AdSense) and statistics (Google Analytics). These companies receive only the personal data needed for the service in question.

The site and the comments are hosted within the European Union. Google and Cloudflare services may process data outside the European Union, under the safeguards provided by the GDPR.

What are my rights?

At any time, you can ask us:

for access to the information we hold about you
to correct it, if it is wrong or incomplete
to delete it or limit how we process it

To do so, write to geral@receitasdochef.pt. We may ask you to prove your identity, so that personal data is only shared with the person it belongs to. In some cases, for example because of legal requirements, a request can’t be met right away. Either way, we’ll tell you what we have done within one month of your request.

Consent for advertising and statistics cookies can be withdrawn at any time with the “Manage cookies” link in the footer. To ask for a comment or its data to be removed, write to geral@receitasdochef.pt. IP addresses linked to comments are deleted after 90 days.

Children’s privacy

This site is not designed for or aimed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we find that we have collected personal data from a child under 18, we will delete it immediately.

Ads on this site may not contain or promote illegal drugs or substances, prescription drug abuse, alcohol (except beer and wine) or tobacco; weapons or violence; illegal activities, gambling (state lotteries excepted), scams or fraudulent financial schemes; hate speech, harassment or discrimination; obscene, profane or offensive content; hostile political or religious content, or the commercial use of controversial social issues; nudity or sexual content and services; defamatory content about Receitas do Chef or anyone else; crude or shocking content; extremism; targeting based on sensitive categories such as finances, health, criminal record, politics, age, ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation or union membership; promises of free goods or services; content aimed at children; unverifiable claims; “before and after” images; unproven health claims or encouragement of harmful behavior; or misleading content, such as fake “close” buttons.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time and will announce significant changes on the site. We recommend reviewing it regularly.
